Tommy's History & Experience in Window Treatments
From an early age, Tommy loved working on projects and the things he was passionate about. He used to do woodworking projects with his father, contributing to his overwhelming love for creating and building. For him, window treatments isn’t a job, it’s his passion for making something beautiful through a keen eye and attention to detail.
Maurer moved to the South all the way from California. He got his start in the marketing industry, and at this point was even running his own agency. After moving into the Birmingham area, he eventually got the opportunity to take over the region’s Louver Shop and took it by the horns.
Get to Know Tommy
While he may foster utmost excellence in the field, window treatments aren’t the only things that interest Tommy.
He spends a lot of time playing music, and even has a few songs on Spotify! He also loves doing projects with his son and teaching him woodworking skills, just as his dad did with him. When he’s not spending time with his wife, who was born and raised in Birmingham, and two kids in Hollywood, Homewood, you may even catch him with his family watching an Atlanta Braves game.

Tommy loves eating at Taco Mama, a local Mexican restaurant as well as Milos! He also always does his best to use his professional connections for good and works with local charities on their window covering installations.

He also admires the simple class and elegance of shades. Both products happen to be favorites of the community as well, and although shutters still dominate the homes in Birmingham, roman and roller shades are emerging as a popular choice. Home automation and motorized shades have been very popular as well.

We had our home outfitted with beautiful shutters last year and have loved them. The install crew and Tommy quoting and measuring was a great experience. We’re closing on a new house soon and are going to get them back out. I’m sensitive to light when I sleep and the enclosure around the blinds cut out all that sunlight. Pricing was fair and service was great.
We wanted to replace a glass block grid bathroom window with a pane window. The previous window was ok without any window treatment, but a clear pane would not be ideal. We didn't want blinds or curtains, and the window guy suggested shutters and referred us to Louver Shop, who did a great job. Everything related to the process of buying and installing these shutters was professional and painless. Highly recommend, and will use them for any similar work in the future.
The Louver Shop is just the best for shutters! They were all so helpful. When Tommy Maurer came to install my entire house full of shutters, everything fit perfectly and he was so meticulous in getting everything just right and to not mar the walls or leave a mess of any kind. It's all spectacularly perfect and we enjoy them so much. I would recommend wooden shutters to everyone!
Roger and Oscar installed the shutters in my bedroom. They did a timely, wonderful job and the shutters are beautiful. Roger explained the care and operation of the shutters to me and he also adjusted one of my old shutters in another room at no extra charge. I really appreciated their work! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Update, 4/4/2024: I recently ordered and had additional shutters installed in my living room and work area. They arrived on time and they are beautiful.
