Meet the Chattanooga Window Coverings Design Team
Pat Pierce is the proud owner of The Louver Shop of Chattanooga and has more than thirty years of experience in the window covering industry. Pat feels that what really makes The Louver Shop unique when compared to its competition is “the expertise we offer and our ability to individually tailor each project to a specific application and/or situation. We are not a ‘one size fits all’ application like many of our competitors,” Pat explains.
Pat grew up not too far from Chattanooga and graduated the University of Tennessee where he earned a degree in secondary education. Pat was a math and science teacher when he was approached by a long-time family friend who was the founder of the original Louver Shop in Atlanta. At the time, Pat had two kids and was his family’s sole income. Pat was intrigued by the opportunity to better support his family as a Louver Shop owner in the Chattanooga area so he transitioned from teaching to window coverings. He has never regretted his decision. Pat says that what he likes best about being part of The Louver Shop team is being able to meet a wide variety of folks and to help them with their needs. “I’m not a behind the desk kind of person,” he states. “With this job I get to be out meeting all kinds of people and learning their stories.”
Pat’s goal is to “always do what is best for my customers. My job is not to sell them my vision. I do give them my expertise and guidance but it is about what the client wants. I’m there to really listen to them so that I can help them achieve what they truly want.”
According to Pat, Plantation Shutters are his top selling product. “We started with shutters and they have always been number one,” he says. “Of course, we have added many other options and products over the years but shutters are the most popular. We can help our customers with shutters better than anyone else in the business because we really know what we are doing.” Continues Pat, “I have seen that motorization has been growing in popularity with the families I partner with and that more of my customers are taking advantage of the technological advances in shading.”
Pat’s favorite thing about the Chattanooga area is the people. “They are so friendly,” he says. “When you walk down the street they look you in the eye and say hi. People who are new to this region always notice that. We have a real family feel here.” Pat also really likes the variety in the terrain of the Chattanooga region. “We have lots of greenery and we also have hills, lakes, mountains and four distinct seasons.”
Pat is very active in the community and especially enjoys volunteering through his local church. “We do a lot of community outreach to help those who are less fortunate – like serving meals at the holidays or helping the homeless,” Pat explains. Pat and his wife also enjoy many sporting activities, jogging, and just spending time outdoors. “We also love to read a lot,” he says.
Pat has garnered many awards during his long career with The Louver Shop including achieving membership in the President’s Club every year since its inception. However, Pat states that his real reward has been being able to combine work and family. “My son is works with me as well. He has basically grown up with The Louver Shop.” Pat continues, “The other thing that is truly rewarding is my happy clients. Satisfied clients give me referrals and that is where most of my business comes from. That my customers trust me and refer me is what is really meaningful to me.”
