Meet the East Georgia Window Coverings Design Team
The Louver Shop of East Georgia is owned by Jory Stubblefield. According to Jory, The Louver Shop is different from its competition because, “It has an extensive array of products all in one location. It’s perfect for my customers because they don’t have to traipse all over town to find just the right window covering solution.”
Jory was born in South Carolina and grew up there but he feels that he is a bona fide native of Georgia now. He attended school in South Caroline and studied radio and TV broadcasting. After he graduated, Jory went to work for Eastern Airlines and stayed there until they went out of business. Lucky for Jory, he had a very close family friend who worked for The Louver Shop team in Georgia. In 1992, Jory’s friend asked him to come work as an installer for The Louver Shop. As time went by, Jory’s responsibilities expanded to include sales, customer service, and troubleshooting. In 2007 an opportunity to become an owner in East Georgia had become available and Jory eagerly stepped into the role.
What Jory really likes about his The Louver Shop career is the flexibility. “Every day I meet a lot of really interesting people and I get to help them so I’m never bored. I especially enjoy partnering with customers who are moving into their first home. Usually, they haven’t accumulated a lot of knowledge about construction and design yet, so it’s really rewarding to be able to help them by passing on all my experience.”
Jory continues, “I like to make sure that the clients understand that I won’t allow them make a design mistake and I won’t let them purchase something they really don’t need. I like to take the customer’s fear away.”
Jory also that he likes that he is still able to do some installations. He states that he enjoys being involved “with the entire spectrum.” “I really love the positive reinforcement and great feedback that I get from the customers I assist. On many occasions, I end up working with multiple generations of the same family as they grow and move into their own homes or when they refer me to each another – parents, kids, in laws, grandparents – it’s a really rewarding part of the job!”
Jory says that his goal for his customers is to never hear these words from them, “Oh, I didn’t know it was going to look like that…” States Jory, “I really want to hear is, ‘it’s just perfect! It’s really changed my home or the whole room!’ I make sure to over explain and over communicate and I avoid jargon. I want my clients to know exactly what to expect when the project is completed and I want to have satisfied customers who will refer me or call me again.”
Jory says that the products that are popular in East Georgia are “some of everything. People call me and feel that they want a particular item. So I make sure to ask a lot of good questions and to really listen to their answers. That is how I can make sure that the customer gets the window covering that they really want and need. However, I do find that Plantation Shutters (of Louver wood or natural wood) are probably the most popular product for my customers in this area.”
“I feel that my role is to be an assistant buyer to the customer, not just a salesperson.” Explains Jory.
Jory participates in many activities in his community and but what he really enjoys is performing. Jory took up playing the guitar at 13 years old and he continues to sing and play with his brother for live audiences at venue near where they were raised. Jory is also a member of his church choir and they perform community outreach at nursing homes, retirement communities, and life care facilities. Jory also takes part in local community theatre productions either as an actor or a technical director. “It’s a chance to use my education”, he says with a smile.
Jory notes many things that he loves about the region of East Georgia. “I feel that it’s my community. I really like the diversity and I am never bored living here. There are many different income levels, and many different nationalities. The people are also very friendly and I enjoy meeting and working with all of them. I feel that it’s important to treat every home that I walk into as if it were my own. I make sure that every customer receives my full attention.”
Jory has earned The Louver Shop’s President’s Club status several times during his career but the types of rewards that he says he really values are the ones that are more intangible like a 1st place in a karaoke contest and a 3rd place finish in a horseshoe competition. He is also quite proud of running and finishing the Peach Tree Road Race 10K but he says that the most rewarding thing in his life is being a grandfather. When it comes to his job, Jory states that his real reward is a completely satisfied customer.
