Meet the Little Rock Window Coverings Design Team
The Louver Shop of Little Rock, Arkansas is owned by Rick Nava. According to Rick, The Louver Shop is unique for many reasons but what really sets it apart from the competition is “The experience and a longevity that other dealers just don’t have. Also, The Louver Shop offers an incredibly broad array of window covering options to its clients.”
Rick’s father served 23 years in the military family so growing up, Rick moved to places all over the United States and even lived outside the country a few times as well (including Germany and Thailand). Rick decided to join the military too and went on to serve with distinction for seven years (he was in the top 10 graduates of every military school he attended). When he completed his military service, he became an installer with his brother in North Carolina. From there he transitioned into installations, marketing, and sales, for a Louver Shop owner in the Atlanta region. Rick quickly became known for his expertise at installations and was often called to many different places to assist in more complicated projects for The Louver Shop. He assisted in many installations in all over the country including jobs in New Jersey, New York, Arizona, Colorado, Illinois, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, and especially all over the states in the south. When Rick was offered a Louver Shop dealership in the Little Rock area, he accepted it relocated from Georgia in 2001.
Rick says that his favorite thing about being part of The Louver Shop team is “being able to help people.” Rick goes on to say, “I really enjoy helping them get what they want and what they need. A lady I worked with recently said to me, ‘This is so much more than what I expected!’ When a client says that, I know I’ve done a good job,” says Rick with satisfaction, “This is what I do this job for.”
Rick’s client focused goal is to make sure that they are happy when the project is completed. “I want each and every customer to be extremely satisfied. Just like my dad always used to say, I want them to feel like they got a Cadillac for a Chevrolet price!”
Rick says he doesn’t have any one particular product that is more popular than the others he carries. “We always begin with what the customer wants to accomplish and then we go on from there. In my years in the window covering industry, I’ve seen it really evolve. Nowadays, there are so many more options and such a wide array of colors to choose from. It used to be that you could get white or beige and that was it. We sell lots of shades, blinds, and shutters. We are also finding that motorization is becoming more popular. We do really like to help the families we partner with to not be afraid of motorization or the pricing and so we do see more people are choosing this option.”
Rick really enjoys living in the Little Rock region and gives many different reasons why. “The number one reason is the food!” he says with a smile, “But there is also the music and all the diverse people. There’s always something going on and I really like it when new people come to our community and I can show them everything there is to do.”
Rick makes sure to take advantage the many activities available in and around Little Rock. He enjoys golfing and says he wishes he could play more. He also enjoys the outdoors and likes to duck hunt and fish. He also says that the many local parks are great for walking and biking. He tries to travel a bit every year and finally, he loves spending time with his grandchildren. He says that one of the things he really loves to do is to attend one of the many festivals that are held in the area every year. Comments Rick, “There is always a festival of some kind going on and usually they include different kinds of music – rock, gospel, blues. Plus you get to see all the different kinds of people too.”
Rick also feels that it is important to help support several different causes including St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. “We love to donate whenever we can or to have a sponsorship for a marathon or sponsor a hole in a golf tournament,” he says. “We keep it low key, though. We aren’t in it for advertising, we do it because it is a cause we truly believe in.”
Rick has garnered many awards and a variety of recognition over the years. He is proud (as he should be) of his stellar military record and for the past four years, he has achieved membership in The Louver Shop’s President’s Club. However, Rick asserts that what really means the most to him is the recognition he gets from the families he works with. “When my customers end up happy, that’s when I know I’ve done a good job and that is the real reward!”
